In order to promote Canadian seafood and the people behind it, B.C. Commercial Fishermen launched “Caught Here. Bought Here” on Sept 16, 2026. Bringing attention to an industry whose reach extends well beyond the fishing boat, the Fisherman’s Market campaign encourages Canadians to choose seafood caught, raised or harvested in Canada, and discover the people and businesses their purchases support.
Fisherman’s Market was founded by commercial fishermen in 2003 and today operates in full-service B.C. seafood markets in Nelson, Kelowna, Kamloops, West Vancouver, Burnaby and Gibsons. The company remains connected to the commercial fishing industry through its founders, fishing vessels, suppliers and experienced fishmongers. Fisherman’s Market helps customers understand what they are buying, where it comes from and how to prepare it.
During the “Caught Here. Bought Here.” campaign, Fisherman’s Market will share stories about Canadian fisheries, fishing vessels, producers and seafood businesses, while helping customers identify Canadian products and learn how to prepare them.
Adam Pearl, Fisherman’s Market co-founder and active commercial fisherman, states that Canadians ought to know more about the seafood the country produces and the people who make it possible. When buying Canadian seafood, knowing the processes involved in fishing helps support the people maintaining the boats, keeping the refrigeration running, processing the catch and getting it to the community.
Essentially the campaign will introduce customers to the variety of seafood caught, raised and harvested across Canada, along with the work required to bring it to the table. Stories will explore fisheries, aquaculture, processing, transportation and the businesses connecting Canadian producers with Canadian consumers.
“Caught Here. Bought Here.” will bring the fishermen’s daily experiences to customers through fishing footage, photographs, interviews and stories from the industry. It will also look beyond the founders’ own experience to the producers, processors, suppliers and other Canadian businesses involved in bringing seafood to market.
Alongside its storytelling, “Caught Here. Bought Here.” helps customers identify qualifying Canadian seafood and explore a wider variety of fish and shellfish.
Customers can also join the dedicated “Caught Here. Bought Here.” Canadian Seafood List for weekly stories about fisheries, boats, producers, seasonal seafood and preparation.
The campaign runs through Dec 4, 2026, across Fisherman’s Market’s stores, website, social media, digital advertising and email.
